Nikolas Stathonikos is a Principal Investigator at the UMC Utrecht Department of Pathology focusing on AI implementation and Digital pathology. He has a background in biomedical engineering, medical image processing and machine learning. Since 2011 he’s been active in the implementation and support of digital pathology at the UMCU having already implemented two generations of digital pathology infrastructure. He has been active in many European projects regarding the implementation and development of digital pathology and AI and published several articles on the subject.
Joao Sousa Pimentel is leading the innovation and IT team at IMP Diagnostics, a Portuguese company focused on providing diagnostics services in the field of Anatomic Pathology. In this very dynamic company, Joao and his team recently started implementing digital pathology in their laboratory workflow as a way to achieve faster turnaround times and enable the application of algorithms to improve diagnosis
