The International Spatial Biology Congress returns to The Netherlands, and brings together over 20 presentations and interactive discussions to dive deeper into the latest spatial technologies and research. It will explore how using spatial multi-omics advances the discovery of novel molecular insights in oncology, immunology, neurology, and infectious disease, as well as the future opportunities of this rapidly developing field.
Presentations featuring ground-breaking research will show how spatial information is generated for the most complex systems, and how these can translate into future research and clinical intervention opportunities. There will be opportunities to discover the latest computational techniques, understand the importance of high-quality spatial data, and explore Spatial Multi-omics applications for the tumour microenvironment. Once again space is made in the program for emerging young researchers to showcase their work.
What they said about the 2022 meeting
“I got a clear overview of where researchers are at this moment in the field of spatial analysis”
“A good mixture of speakers from research and industry”
Covered a variety of applications of spatial biology techniques in different fields and diseases”

At Global Engage we are at the beginning of a project to make our meetings more sustainable. Last year we joined ISLA – a body created to accelerate the event industry’s transition to a sustainable future. Our goal is to measure and record the CO2 emissions of our meetings, with the ultimate goal of reducing them as far as practicable before looking at offsetting them.
Details of the green policies at the World Trade Center Rotterdam can be found here. https://www.wtcrotterdam.com/en/about-wtc/sustainability. A practical example of their efforts is the WTC is heated and cooled using a hot and cold storage system in the ground. In addition, all electricity used is certified ‘green power’. Finally, the car park was recently renovated with LED lighting.
In addition to carefully selecting meeting venues, we have made some other changes.
Gone
Plastic badge holders have been replaced with card name badges attached to a lanyard. Return your lanyard to the registration desk when you leave so it can be reused.
Printed conference documentation and agenda. All the meeting information is now available on an event app. Make sure you have it downloaded to your devices in time for the meeting. Get Agorify on Google Play and Apple App Store.
Changed
You will have some great food choices while you are with us but we have worked with the caterer to increase the proportion of plant-based items. Our aim is that you have some great meals, whilst with us, but with less environmental impact by the time you leave.
What you can do
An international meeting does involve travel but where it is practical, please consider more sustainable alternatives to flying. The app will also have a discussion space to arrange ride shares, so if you’re local or staying at a different hotel make use of it to cut the number of journeys being made.
Offsetting
To offset the carbon caused by attending a meeting please look at these three projects in the Netherlands.
https://treesforall.nl/en/projects/het-groene-woud/
https://treesforall.nl/en/projects/twente/
https://treesforall.nl/en/projects/leersum/
Our analysis suggests that last year attending a two-day conference produced .65 tonnes of C02e per person which can be offset for approx.€12 per person. All Staff attending the meeting will be offset.
Social Responsibility
Where we have consent from our expert speakers the presentations will be actively promoted to developing nations and students as a free resource.
Our commitment is to make sustainable choices wherever we can.
