Chronic illnesses such as IBD, obesity and diabetes were once considered ‘western’ diseases. However, changes to diet and lifestyle are steadily taking their toll and prevalence rates are rising across the globe. (1) Examining the cultural differences between human microbiota can provide vital correlational data. However, to date, few studies concerned with cross-cultural variation have been carried out. Information is scarce and finding it is difficult. (2)
